The centre panel has a cream background with the title "QUEERING • EARTH" and the heading "Post-normal possibilities" in large serif text, followed by the tagline "Reading art, literature, poetry, politics, people, and history through a queering lens" in italics. Below a thin dividing line, the credit reads "Stimpunks Foundation × More Realms." A simple illustrated vine with four flowers in purple, sage green, and teal curves upward beside the text.

A New Cabinet for Post-Normal Possibilities

A collaboration between Helen Edgar and Ryan Boren, Stimpunks Foundation

“Weird” comes from wyrd, Old English for fate and becoming. I used that etymology as the spine of a blog a while back, and it turns out it’s also the heart of something else and it has evolved into queering.earth

queering.earth

is alive

Starstuff.earth worked from physics: atoms forged inside stars, nothing existing in isolation, we shared the message of everything living and non-living belongs here all the way down to our star stuff.

queering.earth works from the humanities instead and what has been handed to us.

We are using neuroqueering a a verb, subverting neuronormativity and heteronormativity at the same time, because the two were never really separate arguments to begin with.

We have been queering readings of literature, poetry, art, people and history, and are excited to add more to our cabinet of curiosities.

Every sheet gets mounted and accessioned the way a herbarium mounts a pressed plant, and every correction we’ve had to make lives in a register anyone read as we want to be transparent and not hide flaws or changes of thought and lack of knowledge.

We are queering the design, text and fonts but you can switch the decorative typography off if it gets in your way to plain text as we want everything accessible.

This isn’t really a launch, it’s closer to perhaps catching us mid-sentence, as we pause to reflect on what we have been doing so far.

There’s more coming.

Come and explore what we have so far at queering.earth

See you on the queerside!
