More Realms welcome reel — transcript Video length: 1 minute 30 seconds. The reel has no speech; this is every word shown on screen, in order, with the time each part appears. The music is Luminescent Nocturne (see the credit at the end). [0:00] More Realms. Neuroqueeringly Affirming. Welcome to More Realms. Somewhere in the margins, another realm unfolds. [0:10] Helen Edgar, she or they. Writer, educator, community facilitator. Late-identified Autistic and ADHD. More than twenty years teaching Early Years and Primary SEND, and a parent to two neurodivergent children. (Photo: Helen in a sunlit woodland.) [0:19] What this is: A place for longer-form writing and theory. Academic-adjacent pieces on neuroqueer theory, monotropism, posthumanism and other ways of being. And room to explore the potential of more-than neurodiversity. My community-facing work, training and resources live on my sibling site, Autistic Realms. [0:28] What I think about: • Monotropism • The neurodiversity paradigm • Neuroqueer theory • Ecosystemic distress • Existential diversity and becoming Bringing monotropism into practical, relational settings: how environments can be shaped around monotropic minds, rather than the other way round. [0:38] Ethics and values: Relational and justice-oriented. Thriving is not an individual achievement. It is a collective process, rooted in safety. Grounded in the neurodiversity movement and disability justice: neurodiversity-affirming, rights-based, and against behaviourist approaches. [0:46] My latibulum: A hiding place, a den, a cosy retreat. A forest-themed room where most of my reading and writing happens, surrounded by books, candlelight, crystals, mushrooms and faery things. (Photos: the den by lamplight, with candles, crystals and shelves of small treasures; hanging ornaments and dried flowers.) [0:55] Who I work with: Most of my work happens alongside others.
